Letters of Love Community Awareness Project - DECA

Grace Berbig began a club at Orono High School that met monthly to make cards for children battling cancer or other serious illnesses at Children’s Minnesota. Grace saw the potential for other schools to start their own clubs. As a team, we registered Letters of Love Global as a 501c3 non-profit organization and appointed Letters of Love ambassadors to start 23 chapters across Minnesota and the Midwest.

We also planned and executed the first Letters of Love Gala. I served as the event coordinator. To fund the event, we sold tickets through Eventbrite and collected donations through GoFundMe. We collected $10,000 in sales and donations which was used to host the gala and donated to the longevity of Letters of Love Global.

Overall, it was powerful to see how three 17-year-old students can make an impact on growing the emotional support of children just like us.
